Largest Lotto Texas Jackpot in 10 Years
The Lotto Texas jackpot stands at its highest value for more than a decade after reaching over $37 million. The top prize has been rolling over since it was last won in January.
The Lone Star State’s flagship game takes place twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, offering a jackpot that starts at $5 million and keeps growing until it is won.
It has been known to put up huge jackpots that can rival multi-state games such as Powerball and Mega Millions, but the cost of entry is just $1 per play and the odds of winning the top prize are around ten times better.
The largest jackpot in history was the $145 million claimed by VOM Enterprizes, LTD back in June 2004, while the last time it was higher than the current value was in May 2010. On that occasion, the Bilmar Trust came forward to pick up a prize worth $97 million.

The top prize has gone above $30 million since then, but it has not climbed this high. Lottery officials are expecting it to grow even more quickly until it is won, as ticket sales are predicted to increase.
“Lotto Texas has been on quite a run this year and now our players will have a shot to play for the game’s largest jackpot prize in more than (a) decade,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission.
“I look forward to congratulating the biggest Lotto Texas winner since 2010. As growing jackpots tend to generate much excitement, we want to remind our players to play responsibly. It only takes one ticket to win.”
The only player to have won the jackpot so far this year was a Laredo resident, who scooped $17.5 million on 15th January.
You need to match six numbers from 1 to 54 to win the jackpot, while there are also several other Lotto Texas prizes up for grabs in every draw.
