Massachusetts Ticket Holder Wins $758.7 Million Powerball Jackpot
Thursday, August 24, 2017

One Powerball ticket holder from Massachusetts is $758.7 million richer after landing Wednesday night’s colossal jackpot. The lucky player correctly matched the numbers 6, 7, 16, 23, 26 and Powerball 4 and defied odds of 292,201,338 to one to win the second largest prize in U.S lottery history.

The winning ticket was purchased from Pride Station, a convenience store in Chicopee, a settlement just outside Springfield; however, the identity of the fortuitous lottery fan is not yet known. In accordance with Massachusetts State Lottery rules, the winner will now have one year to collect their life-changing reward.

Although the total won in Wednesday’s draw wasn’t quite as large as the $1.58 billion sum on offer in January 2016, it is the biggest jackpot to be won by a single ticket in lottery history. This total surpasses the $590.5 million claimed by Florida resident and Powerball legend Gloria MacKenzie in May 2013.

Wednesday’s draw also proved successful for players in the Match 5 prize tier as an incredible 34 ticket holders won $1 million, while six participants matched five numbers and included Power Play on their entry to walk away with $2 million.

There were a further 9,397,683 prize winners, each of whom ended the evening with sums ranging from $4 for matching the Powerball to $200,000 for correctly predicting four main numbers, the Powerball and selecting Power Play. For a complete prize breakdown, head to the Powerball Results page.

Following this latest win, the jackpot total has now reset to $40 million ahead of this Saturday’s draw. If you would like to add this massive sum to your bank account, you can pick your numbers online or play through an authorised retailer in any of the 47 participating states and jurisdictions. Good luck!
