New Set For Life Game Announced By The UK National Lottery
The UK National Lottery has announced that a brand new annuity game will launch in March 2019. Called ‘Set for Life’, it will offer a top prize of £10,000 per month for 30 years and a second prize of £10,000 for one year. It will be the first game of its kind to launch in the UK.
Set for Life will be a draw game in the same vein as the National Lottery’s other popular games, such as Lotto and EuroMillions. Players will pick five numbers between 1 and 47 and one Life Ball number from 1 to 10, with the objective of matching the winning numbers drawn in the lottery. The more numbers matched, the bigger the prize.
Tickets for the new game will go on sale on Friday 15th March ahead of the first draw on Monday 18th March, and it will cost £1.50 per line to enter. Draws will be held twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, but the time of the draw is yet to be confirmed by Camelot, the operator of the UK National Lottery.
There will be six other cash prizes on offer, in addition to the top two annuity prizes. Anyone who matches two numbers will win £5, while those who match four numbers plus the Life Ball will win £250. The odds of winning the top prize of £10,000 per month for 30 years are around 1 in 15.3 million. There is an estimated 1 in 1.7 million chance of matching five main numbers to win the second prize, while the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 12.4.
Camelot CEO Nigel Railton said: “We’re really pleased to be enhancing our range of National Lottery draw-based games with the introduction of Set For Life. Annuity games really appeal to a growing number of people who like the idea of winning a prize paid out in regular instalments over the long term and are very successful in other countries.
“We’ve now got a mix of compelling draw-based games that suit all tastes, play styles and pockets. That’s vital for The National Lottery’s long-term health – and will help to ensure that, in the years to come, we continue to deliver even more for our players and the millions of people for whom National Lottery funding is so crucial.”
The news about Set For Life was first released in September 2018, when Camelot announced changes to Lotto and EuroMillions alongside plans to launch a new annuity game. One of the main attractions of annuity lotteries is that they offer a jackpot prize consisting of regular payments instead of a one-off lump sum, and Camelot believes this style of game will prove popular amongst its players. Annuity style games have already proved popular in other countries, including Australia and the USA, so keep revisiting Lotto.net for further information and the latest results.
