Ohio Pick 4
Pick 4 offers a variety of play styles, thanks to all the different play types, Ways to play, and the option to wager either $0.50 or $1. You could win up to $5,000 by matching all the winning numbers in draw-order on a $1 Straight play. Not 100% on what all those terms mean? Read on, our guide will explain everything.
There are two Ohio Pick 4 draws every day – the Midday draw at 12:29 PM and the Evening draw at 7:29 PM.
How to Play Ohio Pick 4
Ohio Pick 4 offers three main bet types, which are Straight, Boxed and Back-up. You can choose to wager either $0.50 or $1 per play except for Back-Up, where the $0.50 bet is unavailable. Here’s an overview of how the bet types differ:
Straight Bet
You choose four single-digit numbers (0-9) and must match the winning numbers in the exact order they are drawn.
Boxed Bet
For Boxed bets, your numbers need to match the winning numbers, but the order doesn't matter. You can play 4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way, or 24-Way Boxes depending on the number of duplicate digits in your play. Playing more Ways has better odds of winning, but playing fewer Ways offers greater prizes.
4-Way Box: Three of your four numbers are the same, and one is different (e.g., 1, 1, 1, 2). There are 4 possible winning combinations.
6-Way Box: You have two pairs of the same numbers (e.g., 1, 2, 1, 2). There are 6 possible winning combinations.
12-Way Box: Two of your four numbers are the same, and the other two are different (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 3). There are 12 possible winning combinations.
24-Way Box: Your four numbers are all different (e.g., 1, 2, 3, 4). There are 24 possible winning combinations.
Back-Up Bet
For this play type, only the $1 wager is available. It is split between $0.50 on a Straight and $0.50 on a Boxed.
If your numbers match the winning numbers in the exact order, you win both the Straight and the Box prize.
If your numbers match the winning numbers in any order (but not the exact order), you win only the Box prize.
