How to Play
You are automatically entered into the Gold Ball draw when you buy a Lotto 6/49 ticket. For each line of numbers you pick for the Classic Draw, you will also receive a unique raffle code, for example 12345678-01. This is generated automatically and does not cost any extra.
How to Win
One raffle code is randomly selected as the winner on the night of the Lotto 6/49 night. If you’ve matched every digit in exactly the same place, you are the Gold Ball winner and are guaranteed to win at least CA$1 million. All you need to do then is wait to find out the full value of your prize.
The Gold Ball Draw
The value of the prize is determined by the Gold Ball draw. This is a separate draw, featuring 30 balls. Each one denotes a prize – 29 are worth CA$1 million and the other, Gold Ball, represents the jackpot. If the Gold Ball is drawn, the top prize is paid out. If not, the winner still receives CA$1 million.
The jackpot starts at CA$10 million and increases by CA$2 million each draw if the Gold Ball is not selected. Each time a ball worth CA$1 million is drawn, it is removed from subsequent draws until the Gold Ball is finally selected. This ensures that the odds of winning the jackpot gradually improve until it is paid out.
The odds of being the winner are based entirely on how many tickets are sold for that particular Lotto 6/49 draw. The chances of then winning the Gold Ball prize of CA$10 million or more then depend on how many prize balls are in the draw. If there are 30 balls, the odds are 1 in 30. If there are just two balls, the odds are 1 in 2.
